SHADOW CATCHERS: CAMERA-LESS PHOTOGRAPHY
Shadow Catcher exhibition was held in V&A museum. This exhibition includes 5 different artists works based on Camera less photography which were made by five different techniques; chemigram, Digital C-print, Dye destruction print, Gelatin-silver print, Luminogram and photogram. At first time when I heard the word 'photography without camera' I thought it really doesn't make sense. However when I saw all the differnt outcomes by various techniques, I could understand what the word meant.
Be right back by Floris neusüss |
The exhibition starts with works by Floris neusüss, and he used photogram technique for his works. Among his works, 'Be right back'was my favorite piece. This work reminds me of playing with shadows in childhood and myself as a little child who tried to rip off the shadow from my body and run away after watching Peter Pan animation movie. Most of his works were black and white as actual shadows.

La Suma of Jorge Luis Borges(1992) by Pirre Codier |
Next artist was Pirre Codier who used chemigram for his works which visualizes more scientific images as the process method. Through his works, La Suma of Jorge Luis Borges (1992) was my favorite work which includes remarkable detailed patterns. He said he usually gets inspiration from maps or poetry but when I saw this piece, I thought the patterns looks like writings of secret code.
Garry Fabian Millers' works were whowing two very different style. His works on leaves and flowers creates more delicate and natural atmosphere whoever his other works such as 'year one-samonios1' delivers extremely strong feeling and create more space like atmosphere.( 그의작업은 굉장히 다른 두가지 성향을 띄고 있었다 그의 나뭇입작업들을 보면 한없이 연하고 부드러운 자연을 볼수있지만 그의 또다른 작업은 우주를 나타내는듯한 강한 이미지를 보여주고있었다)
